Health Happens Outside
We build beautiful, active destinations that connect the people, the landscape, and the spirit of the Arkansas Delta.
Through high-quality recreation infrastructure, studioDRIFT is designing a healthier, more vibrant, and deeply proud East Arkansas. We believe that physical activity begins with inspiring places.
The Destination Strategy: Beauty as a Catalyst for Wellbeing
In the Arkansas Delta, we face some of the highest chronic disease rates and lowest life expectancies in the nation. But at studioDRIFT, we do not see a region defined by deficits. We see a landscape of immense beauty, deep history, and resilient people.
We believe that preventive healthcare is an active design challenge.
To get people moving, we must build spaces that people want to move in. By designing high-quality, beautiful, and deeply engaging destinations, we make active living irresistible. Our projects are more than lines on a map or concrete in a park—they are community wellness hubs designed to inspire physical activity, foster deep human connection, and restore a profound sense of local pride. We see beautiful physical spaces not just as scenic destinations, but as equitable community health infrastructure.
OUR DESTINATIONS IN ACTION
Investing in Connections
Every route we map, park we build, and historic space we revitalize is a long-term investment in community wellness. Discover how we are activating the Delta:
The Crowley’s Ridge Gravel Trail (CRGT)
The Destination: An iconic, 250-mile gravel route network traversing the unique glacial geology of Crowley's Ridge. Connecting 18 Delta communities, 7 state parks, and 1 national forest, the CRGT winds through majestic hardwood canopies and historic downtowns.
The Health Impact: By transforming quiet rural roads into a continuous active recreation corridor, we are building a vast, accessible outdoor gym. It is an open invitation for residents to step outside, pedal, and reclaim their physical health.
Craighead Forest Trail System
The Destination: An activated network of pristine, shaded dirt paths nestled within a beloved local forest.
The Health Impact: We make nature accessible. This trail system provides safe, traffic-free spaces for multi-generational families to walk, run, and cycle, directly combating cardiovascular disease and reducing mental fatigue through immersion in the outdoors.
Birdeye Play Park
The Destination: A beautifully designed, nature-based play environment in the historic community of Birdeye.
The Health Impact: Active habits start in childhood. We design play areas that challenge children’s physical capabilities, spark imaginative play, and serve as gathering hubs where neighbors of all backgrounds can cross paths and build community.
Wynne Splash Pad
The Destination: A vibrant, refreshing water play oasis in the heart of Wynne, Arkansas.
The Health Impact: Under the hot Delta sun, the Wynne Splash Pad offers a free, safe, and joyful destination for families to stay active and cool. It acts as an essential community anchor that brings life, laughter, and a sense of shared belonging back to public spaces.
RECREATION AS PREVENTIVE HEALTHCARE
Why Active Infrastructure is a Public Health Mandate
True health is about more than clinical care; it is about addressing the Social Determinants of Health. Where we live, play, and gather dictates our longevity.
Bridging the gap between medicine and the outdoor, our trail networks and public parks are partner assets for regional healthcare clinics, rural hospitals, and the entire community..
